Sterimed® Foam sterile wound dressings of polyurethane foam

DESCRIPTION:

Sterimed® Foam is a series of dressings for present-day treatment of a wide range of wounds, which effectively enhance the healing process and improve patient's comfort.

Sterimed® Foam are sterile dressings made of soft, thick and elastic polyurethane foam with high absorption capacity and external breathable layer that protects the wound from water and bacteria. The additional contact layer in some dressings does not stick to the wounded surface and serves as a filter for the thicker exudates.

MECHANISM OF ACTION:

Sterimed® Foam dressings absorb and retain wound secretion and maintain optimum moist environment, thus enhancing the processes of granulation and epithelization.

The structure of Sterimed® Foam permits effective management of exudates and rarer replacement of the dressing. Exudates are absorbed and distributed evenly in the dressing, while the external layer, which is highly permeable to air and water vapour, enhances the evaporation of excessive moisture from the wound.

ADVANTAGES:

  • Highly absorbent with reduced risk of maceration
  • Provide optimum conditions for wound healing
  • Soft and comfortable for the patient
  • Can be combined with compressive therapy
  • Permit prolonged stay on the wound – up to 7 days
