On 17th July the BTA held a press conference of the Bulgarian Generic Pharmaceutical Association (BGPharmA). The press conference was attended by Ms Tishkova as a Board Member of the Association and Executive Director of Medica AD. During the press conference, the Board of BGPharmA disagreed with fundamental proposals for changes in the regulations on medicines, which could lead to blocking patient access to new generic and biosimilar drugs. The topic of the conference was "Do we make reasonable payments for drugs?"
Generic industry opposes the draft text of the changes in the price regulation, which proposes to link the price of the first generic product being launched at the market, amounting to 65 % with the price of the reference (original) product because it`s an unbalanced approach which violates the principles of free market competition. "This is an anti-competitive measure that is not productive, and within the EU it is classified as a "dangerous "practice", said the Association`s Executive Director Rossen Kazakov.
